Jaguar

In the sequel to Thunder Cave, Jacob finds that he has become involved in a frightfully dangerous mystery after his father attempts to open a Jaguar preserve in Brazil and is met with one violent attack after another.

Fourteen-year-old Jacob Lansa and his field biologist father, known as Doc, are trying to learn about each other after many years of separation. The death of Jake's mother has brought them together, but there are lingering tensions. When Doc heads to Brazil to help a friend establish a jaguar preserve, the self-reliant high schooler ends up living in a retirement home with his loving but confused grandfather.

The action heats up when Jake goes to Brazil for a vacation and an accident imperils the future of the expedition. Meeting his father's girlfriend, learning to fly an ultralight plane, and dangerous encounters with wildlife, thieves and the impenetrable jungle provide Jake with plenty of challenges. Fortunately his good judgement, ingenuity, and courage help bring Jaguar to a satisfying conclusion.
